I went into the game thinking they would go about it that way. And throughout the game, it keeps hinting at that moral dilemma, but then nothing is ever done with it. It kept feeling like these moral complexities were going to play a part in Dani's story, but then it just turns into good guys vs. bad guys. Far Cry 6's story felt very underwhelming.

Far Cry is not a mil-sim, Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the closest thing to what you are looking for out of the more casual games. If you want realistic Far Cry 6 weapons, highly suggest to wait for the mods (which should inevitably pop-up like they did for Far Cry 3, 4 and 5). Cheers!
For me personally, the roge like mode in the villians DLC are a no worth it at all, just because I dislike this genere, but if you don't have problems with Rogelike games and challenging ones give them a chance, the story of each one is interesting. And about Blood Dragon is a good game too, just in case you don't own it yet, It whorth it for sure.
