From what I see, the new Q5 (2018 onwards) has more problems overall than the prior generation (2011 to 2017), but I would not recommend a Q5 older than a 2016. Up to 2017, the 2.0T in the Q5 is a Gen-2. These engines have all the internal upgrades and improvements, and should be good for reliability.
Latter model 2.0l have more low-end torque so they feel quicker than earlier models. 3.2l motors have been very reliable but there isn't much of an upgrade path if you're into tuning. Repair parts can be expensive and you will pay a premium if they are Audi branded. There is no way a turbo charged smaller engine will ever have the longevity of a larger normally aspirated engine. The VR6 does not have a head gasket problem. Turbo chargers do go back at a much higher frequency than head gaskets. But the turbo charged engine is lighter, so will accelerate faster.
