A dramatic period of rebellion, civil war, and the birthing of nations provides the backdrop to your own scheme for ultimate power. Carve a niche for yourself through the crucible of battle and become the statesman and king the era demands. • Fourteen playable factions from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It should come as no surprise then that the latest in the series, Medieval II: Total War, is an undeniably thrilling strategy experience. Be warned, however. This is not the revolutionary leap
Rome Remastered is a solid update to the game. I know some people can't deal with the UI changes but the UI changes are not clearly worse than the original and its far better in significant ways. I'd be very excited for the same treatment of Medieval 2: Total War. Last edited by Chi Chi ; Nov 18, 2023 @ 11:40pm. #15.

Empire total war, for me, has the most immersive political environment and the largest scale of wars and such. Only game in the series where you can have a well thought out World War on three continents (also possible in Medieval I/II but not as organised and the importance of merchanting in Empire makes it a lot more challenging).
With fire and sword. mod for the 17th century. Guns, muskets and more fun. OiM II (With Fire and Sword II) develops ideas of precursor and in many respects similiar to it. Some aspects of the mod stays the same, but many of them will change. Another engine of Medieval II and later date of campaign start (first With Fire and Sword 2: Total War
Definitely get it, but install the Stainless Steel 6.4 mod right away. The base game is okay, that mod is probably the best total war experience I've had. #2. Lukecis Mar 12, 2016 @ 6:27am. rome tw 1 and medieval 2 are the best games in the series in my opinion so yes its worth getting. #3.

It's absolutely worth playing but it has one of the best mods of any game.
Brilliant, bloody, deep, and engaging, Medieval II: Total War simply has no equal among strategy games in terms of sheer variety of play. Sporting a real-time strategy combat engine hidden inside a sedate, turn-based strategy shell, M2:TW does both genres well enough to be good games in their own right, making the combination of the two all-but-irresistible.
100% worth the experience. Before you play anything modded, play a completely vanilla campaign in short to medium length, just to get the feel and quirks of the authentic experience. From there on, you can get the feel on a few janky mechanics/bugs that plagued the original Medieval 2.

Rome 2 first then any other total war. Shogun 2 is almost perfect but Rome 2 is simplier, pretty ez and better for beginners. The main problem with Medieval 2 is a different camera control after the new total wars and the feeling of an empty and flat world map, after the beautiful, voluminous modern ones. There are no problems with the rest of
