I believe the 1.4 is not a VTEC engine, but I maybe confusing it with the Jazz. Personally I found the 1.4 engine more refined than the 1.6. However the top end power was not there as is the case with the 1.6 and the braking was weaker as many 1.4's come with rear drums.

10355 posts ยท Joined 2009. #2 ยท Jan 8, 2011. You can do a mini-me, it will give you 120 bhp, I personally wouldnt bother and just do a engine swap, as for mods, induction kit, manifold and decat for the usual breathing mods, but you will only get a few bhp so thats why I wouldnt bother. D.
1. VTEC engines use two camshaft profiles while non-VTEC engines only use one. 2. VTEC engines can have excellent performance at high and low speeds while non-VTEC engines can only be optimized for either. 3. VTEC is only available on Hondas while non-VTEC are found on any car brand. 4. VTEC engines are much better than non-VTEC for street cars.
